OK. I have changed my review due entirely to the personal intervention of Stuart Peacock, the Dealer Principal. I had a poor experience of customer service exacerbated by apparently shoddy work. However, Stuart took on my complaint and since then the service has been much improved. Evans Halshaw need to work on their centralised phone system as it can still be difficult to contact the actual site but Stuart (who has only been here 7 weeks) is aware and is re-energising the whole York dealership and service centre from the bottom up. Any problems, ask to speak with Stuart Peacock!
Citroën and pergeout garage although we bought a Ford. Friendly and helpful staff, clean showroom, toilets and tea and coffee. We were able to spread our stuff out and felt comfortable with our 5 month old. No hard sell, answered all our questions and understood we had a budget. Part exchange test was thorough.

I bought my car from here a couple of weeks ago, good little car. The wheel bearing was going but they agreed to fix it before sale, due to miscommunication within the dealership it didn’t get done so when I picked it up I was a bit angry, however when I got in contact with them, which was very hard and took a lot of long phone calls just to get through to some one and even harder to get the right person (partly down to the phone lines been moved and floor being refurbished inside), after this they agreed for me to just bring it in and they will sort it. Happy with my new car. The staff were friendly and offered me refreshments. Only thing I would say they can improve on is communication to eachother and with customers so everyone knows what’s going on. Overall I’m happy with the vehicle and price, but it wasn’t an easy purchase when it could have gone smoother.
I’ve bought several vehicles over the years from here and it’s always been a pleasant enough experience. Of course they have the usual gambit of sales techniques to try get a sale, but more recently that seems to have been toned down. I wouldn’t hesitate to look here again for my next vehicle if I was buying used. I would however warn against their maintenance and warranty plans and their GAP insurance, cheaper to buy elsewhere, especially the GAP insurance, save hundreds buying elsewhere.

Martin sorted my second hand car for me and helped sort out finance really helpful . All the staff at York sit are friendly helpful I will go back to them for another car .... One down side ...this also happens in the hull branch they use these horrible screws to hold the number plates on there cars Come on vauxhall put better screws and colour coded caps . Will look more professional E bay sell them 😀
Upon on arrival, I was greeted warmly by two sales people. I explained the reason for my visit and Jordon O'Connor dealt with it efficiently. I was offered a seat and a hot drink while he dealt with my request. Jordon is friendly and professional. He spent time with me discussing my options and directed me to the right department for further assistance. Jordon should be the face of Evans Halshaw.
