York Garrison - Shopping around Earswick

A fantastic garden centre full of interesting, lovely plants. There is a cafe, which I didn't frequent, but looked like a good one. It is easily accessible, with a large car park. This is easily one of the best garden centres in York, if not the best. We bought a cheap plant (we were on a strict budget) but even then it was very reasonable.

A very pleasant place to visit. You don't have to be a gardener to enjoy a trip here although they do have excellent plants, garden furniture & gifts. There's also a very good restaurant with an excellent, varied menu. Other good features are smaller sized portions for those who's appetite isn't quite what it was and everything is brought to your table so no struggling with trays of hot food & drinks. All in all well worth a visit.

A wonderful place, the owner is full of knowledge. Much better and more individual than a large chain. We will be back!

A hidden gem of a place...so many people miss this on their way to Dean's Garden Centre, but there's a wonderful choice of plants here; prices are more competitive AND the owner is a great source of knowledge and advice.

I can't recommend this nursery enough. Such helpful staff and very reasonable. Excellent quality. The range of veg and plants is astounding! Shame the A64 is such a pig of a road sometimes but its well worth the traffic! *Update*: June 2018. Prices seemed to have shot up! So items like hanging baskets arent as reasonable as they were last year. Prices more comparable to Wyevale but still better range and quality of plants and veg.

We've visited Vertigrow twice on our way back to North Yorkshire and we were so amazed with the variety and quality of the planters. Staff were so helpful as we went on to buy trees too, offering sound advice on how to look after them all. We traveled back the 60 miles again as the quality and friendliness were unique.
